ドイツのベルリン派を代表する製作家の一人。1867年にドイツはミッテンヴァルト(Mittenwald)に生まれ、1894年よりベルリン(現在のポツダム広場近く)に活動拠点を移す。
彼の人生は、楽器製作にすべてを捧げたといっても言い過ぎではないくらいで、当時としても非常にレベルの高い高品質な楽器を製作し、製作で得た収入を楽器の材料となる木材などに多額の投資をするなどしていました。特に、2つの世界大戦前の好況期には多くの音楽家が彼の楽器を求めました。
今回ご紹介するバイオリンは1923年生の楽器。典型的なStroblの製作スタイルが見受けられ、楽器のコンディションも100年以上前に作られたとは思えない程に、非常に良いコンディションです。

It would be no exaggeration to say that he devoted his life entirely to instrument-making, producing high-quality instruments of a very high level even for the time, and investing his earnings from making instruments and reinvested in good wood and other materials. Many musicians sought out his instruments, especially during the good times before the two world wars(especially from 1905 to 1914 and from 1925 to 1938).
The violin presented here is an instrument from 1923. It shows the typical Strobl style and the condition of the instrument isreally so good that it is hard to believe that it was made over 100 years ago.
